BAPTISM Jesus Christ commanded his disciples to "Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." (Mt. 28: 19) We, therefore, celebrate this sacrament for infants (up to 7 years old) on a regular basis to incorporate them into the Church and plant the seed of eternal life within them. **Due to COVID restrictions, baptisms are currently after one of the weekend Masses. Infant baptisms are scheduled three times per month, once at each Mass. The weekend Mass assigned depends upon completion of Baptism class and availability of time. Baptisms will continue to take place outside of Mass during Lent.
A pre-baptism preparation class is required for the parents of their first child to be baptized, and is highly recommended for the godparents. Call the Parish Office at (616) 842-1702 to schedule or register online for infant Baptism.
Adult baptism requires a more lengthy preparation process and normally takes place at the Easter Vigil as part of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) that also includes confirmation and first Eucharist. Please contact the director of RCIA, Dave Heinert, for more information.
