Dave Heinert junior was born and raised in western North Dakota. He is a cradle Roman Catholic that went to Catholic School from kindergarten through High School graduation. After graduating from high school, he entered Cardinal Muench Seminary in Fargo North Dakota.
Dave spent two and a half years in minor seminary before stepping out and attending NDSU. While at NDSU he was a peer minister at St. Paul's Newman Center for one year and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. After graduating from NDSU, Dave re-entered the seminary and attended the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio for a semester and two weeks. He had great Spiritual Direction at the Josephinum and you can ask him why he needed two extra weeks of discernment? After leaving the Josephinum he returned to his hometown of Dickinson, ND with direction from the Holy Spirit to save up for some self-discovery to Europe. Nine months later Dave chaperoned a group from the Bismarck Diocese to World Youth Day in Germany. When the group returned Dave continued his pilgrimage traveling to various places. The capstone of the pilgrimage was 21 days spent in mostly silence in Lourdes France at a Church approved Marian apparition site. We can really hear God's whispers when we shut out the noise. When Dave returned home he had clear goals and direction, he just needed patience and trust. Dave struggled a bit with those virtues a bit over the next two and a half years, but all in all he grew and has some good stories that he is willing to share from that time in his life that God has and will hopefully use to allow people to grow close to Him. When 2008 rolled around it hit Dave like a bad taste in his mouth. Things just weren't going well for him, but he knew that the end of the year he would start attending grad school for Theology; so, he looked for God's lesson. Ultimately the lesson was very simple. God wants us all to trust him even when things aren't going well. Therefore, by the time Dave's car broke down two blocks from his new grad school he really trusted God to get him out of the jam. Sure enough, God did, and one thing led to another and later that night he met his would-be wife, Jenna, at a gas station. The Heinert family lived in Fort Worth, Houston, and Pikeville, Kentucky before moving to the wonderful area of Spring Lake. Jenna and Dave currently have three circus clowns that seem to find their way into every corner of their house. They also have two goof balls in heaven probably pranking and joking around with relatives. Dave enjoys all sports and considers himself a gym rat turned church rat. He also enjoys comic books and is a Marvel guy but believes that it is alright if you are a DC person as long as you know that you will probably have some purgatory time for being one! Dave likes food and would like to be a foodie, but he has kids and usually ends up with kids’ meals or mac and cheese. When Dave is the most comfortable he will be quoting movies and music from the 90s. He also has a lot of inside jokes with himself and says that you can feel free to laugh at him for his quirks! The Heinerts moved to Michigan the Sunday before Labor Day 2017 with a two-week-old. Dave has been a stay at home dad for the last year. |
