The School Office will send an email to School Families on the last day of each week with important news and notes for the upcoming school week. Please look it over carefully. If you would like to be added to our email distribution list contact the school office at (616) 842-1282 or email email@example.com
Dear School Families,
I would like to thank our long term substitute teachers, Mrs. Conroy, Mrs. Sakel, and Mrs. McKenna who have done remarkable jobs filling in for Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Derck, and Mrs. Rhein while they were on maternity leave. Another thank you goes to Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Grossman, who covered Mrs. Conroy's and Mrs. Sakel's aide positions while they were teaching.
We do have some changes in school staffing for the 2019-2020 school year in addition to having a new principal and secretary. Mrs. Bator is going into semi-retirement mode as she goes from our first grade teacher to the first grade aide next fall. Mrs. Sakel who has been the first grade aide since last March until she took on the challenge of filling in as the middle school math teacher this spring will be our new first grade teacher. Mrs. Sakel brings eight years of teaching experience in a Catholic school to this position along with the dedication to Catholic education by having her four children attend St. Mary's School.
Please pay close attention to the changes in the St. Mary's School Dress Code for next school year. Fr. Dave asked the Planning and Policy Committee of the School Board to make our Dress Code more "uniform". The changes are highlighted in red on the attachment found in this newsletter.
Field Day will be on Monday, June 10th at Central Park. A picnic lunch will be provided for all students, staff and volunteers. Special Field Day t-shirts went home today with all students. Please have your children wear their shirt to school on Monday. Thank you to our PTO for providing the shirts this year!

MARKET DAY UPDATE:
The 4th graders organized a successful MARKET DAY in May. Each 4th grader worked to create a product using a set budget, implemented a marketing plan with advertisements and then set their inventory and prices according to their targeted customers. Their hard work and creativity earned $500.00! After donating 10% of their earnings to the Parish, they chose two charities who will receive the remainder of their earnings. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - in honor of Team Mabel - and the Mott's Children's Hospital will each receive $225.00!
WAY TO GO 4TH GRADE!
A VISIT FROM MABEL - TODAY!
Mabel visited St. Mary's School this afternoon to see Mrs. Mullally's 4th grade class and hear about the ways they raised money for the CFF (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) through Team Mabel. The class enjoyed meeting Mabel and playing together in the playground!
