We have heard from many of you whose parishioners have expressed a desire to assist the victims of Hurricane Matthew. It is wonderful to witness this spirit of generosity from our Catholic community in these situations.
At this time, the Diocese of Grand Rapids is encouraging that donations to assist victims in Haiti and other Caribbean nations be made through Catholic Relief Services (CRS) which is working directly with the people in need in those countries. Catholic Relief Services is the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic bishops in the United States. If parishioners would like to help victims in the United States, please make a donation through Catholic Charities USA. Links to both organizations’ relief efforts may be found here: http://www.dioceseofgrandrapids.org/multimedia/Pages/Hurricane_Matthew_Relief.aspx#.V_6DGuArKUk We also ask for continued prayers for all those affected by Hurricane Matthew and the families of those killed in the hurricane.
