WHAT IS SLIME WARS? A fun and messy fundraiser hosted by Student Council to collect donations that will go toward the purchase of new swing-set and playground equipment. An 8th grade student is assigned to each class as a candidate to dump ingredients on. Each class will dump ingredients on their assigned goggle wearing 8th grader. (Student Council will supply the ingredients.) All classes collect coins/dollars and participate. Student council is tracking classroom donation totals. (totals determine the ingredients that class will dump) WHEN? Thursday May 29th at 2:40pm DETAILS: Ingredients that will be dumped on students include: Milk $10, Flour $20, Nacho Cheese $35, Cottage Cheese $45, Shaving Cream $60, Pasta Sauce $80, Caramel $100, Sardines $120, Syrup $150, Glitter $200, Surprise ingredient $250 These pictures are from a SLIME WARS at St. Mary's 4 years ago. Students are invited up to Mrs. Mullally's 4th grade room where they can bring up to $5 to spend on one-of-a-kind treats, and experiences such as bracelets, video games, raffles, smoothies, hockey, sno-cones, ring toss, prizes, bookmarks, anklets, bottle flipping, slime, pop and chocolate-covered pretzels. At the OK Blue Track & Field Conference Championship Meet, Clare Stempky was part of the Conference Champion 4X200m relay team, and Robyn Hunt was part of the Conference Champion 4x800m relay team. Both ladies have also qualified for the Middle School Track & Field Megastar Meet to be held in Lowell next Week. REMINDER: Tomorrow is RACE DAY at 1:30.

Kyan was selected by his 8th grade teacher Mr. Celano and Principal VanHammen to participate in the "Lunch with a Deputy" program of the Ottaway County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Corey Allard picked Kyan up from school this past Friday and headed to Butch's Beach Burritos in Spring Lake for lunch to celebrate. (The Sheriff's Office partnered with Butch's Beach Burritos of Spring Lake as well as the Spring Lake McDonald's, and they provide a complimentary meal for this program) Both Spring Lake and Grand Haven offer many summer activities and camps for kids. Two great St. Mary's families bid on it and together it raised $1,500. WOW!!! What support! Mrs. Suchecki had Miss Paige Lilley as her co-teacher this past Friday. Mr. Gavin Raha was the co-teacher for the day back in April. Thank you to all the grandfriends who were able to join us on May 3rd for our annual Grandfriends Day.

Miss Everitt from DeWitt school house transported us to 1895 for a fantastic one room school house experience. The Fourth graders experienced mental arithmetic, math on chalkboard slates, a spelling bee, and a Michigan leaves art project. It was a fun time visiting and learning in the past!
