Congratulations Landon Wiedenhoeft!
Eighth grade student Landon Wiedenhoeft stood out as a positive role model and student leader, and was selected by Principal VanHammen to represent St. Mary’s School in the "Lunch with a Deputy" program of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Corey Allard picked Landon up at school on Friday and they went to Butch's Beach Burritos for lunch. The Sheriff's Office has partnered with Butch's Beach Burritos and McDonalds of Spring lake to sponsor the program, providing a complimentary meal of their choice to celebrate the student’s success. The Wesco Popcorn Bucket Sale is going great! The profits of this sale goes towards our St. Mary's School bus for field trips and general maintenance. The popcorn buckets make good gifts and they'll have free popcorn through December 2019. The popcorn buckets sell for $12 each and may be ordered and picked up in the school office. Remember the first Monday of each month is a Color Day. This Monday is Picture Retake Day as well. It is also October and that means the shorts are put away until spring. Please make sure your children have a coat or sweatshirt to wear on these cool fall mornings. Hopefully we won't have to worry about winter gear for at least a month. Don't forget "Blessing of the Pets" on Thursday, October 4th at 8:45 am. Fr. Dave will give a special blessing in the south parking lot right after morning Mass and when school starts. Please keep your pets in this area before the blessing. God Bless. A FUN trip to Robinette's Apple Haus is a perfect way to greet Fall for Mrs. Johnson's Kindergarten and Mrs. Bator's 1st grade students. They made apple cider, enjoyed homemade cider and donuts, went on a tractor ride, and took a tour. They even got to go in a big refrigerator where all the apples are stored! Our drop off and pick up routes were designed with the help of our local law enforcement officers with the safety of our students and families in mind. I would like to thank Mr. Earl for helping remind people of this procedure before and after school this week directing the drivers to the proper exits, Prospect and Savidge Streets.
I would like to thank all of our volunteers who helped make our Parish Festival a success. I would also like to thank all of you who sold your raffle tickets and attended the Parish Festival last Saturday. The proceeds of the festival go directly to St. Mary's School budget. Proceeds support our School and help to keep Catholic education affordable. Miss Skorupski’s 2nd Grade class had a visit on Tuesday from Cathy Pearce - Parish Director of Elementary Faith Formation. She taught a song about how we care for God’s creation and helped us make origami fish. This lesson reinforced the need to recognize God in all living things. God’s kingdom is here on Earth and we see it in all of his creation. 😍 🐠
