ATTENTION St Mary's School 7th & 8th Grade:
The Hand in Hand ministry is a student-led effort to support other students in times of need, primarily through hygiene product donations. Through generous donations, we are able to pack hundreds of bags to be distributed to area youth and families experiencing hardship. This has been a partnership with Spring Lake schools and has included donations to Muskegon area schools as well. Father Dave has given us permission to host a small service event so that we can restock our hygiene bags. We will have limited attendance, require students and team to wear a mask, and will have gloves and sanitizer available for everyone. The event will be outside! **In the event of inclement weather, participants will be notified via text/email and social media. Here are the details: Sunday, October 18th 3-4pm 7th-12th grade students several Virtus trained adult leaders will be present. Students must wear a mask. We ask that everyone RSVP to handinhandspringlake@gmail.com or to me at 937.776.3798. I look forward to more opportunities to work together with our St Mary's Parish community! Kindly, Michelle Boerger Hand in Hand adult leader and youth program admin volunteer St. Mary's School 7th and 8th grade students work together to ceremoniously raise and lower 5 flags daily throughout the entire school year -- United States of America, State of Michigan, St. Mary's School, POW/MIA, and the Papal flag. We are grateful to them for providing this important service.
Our 6th graders led our morning pledge, prayer and talked about the virtue trustworthiness during Doyle's Daily from a Shorter Distance this morning. We know how much many of you want to be with us at our all school masses; We too wish you could see the increased engagement and faithfulness that reverberates due to a little distance between friends. Instead, let us share a little of Father Dave's message from this morning as it relates directly to the times we live in. He told us, "This is a time to love and follow God where ever He leads us." He reminded us that division and disagreement come from the devil, and that we are called to "be brought together by the love of God." With all this in mind, we are embracing civility at St. Mary's School! Be sure to view the video below for more information about the Civility Pledge we are using to teach respectful discourse in our school. https://youtu.be/aYCnQddJpUA If you are willing to take the pledge to promote civility, love our neighbors, and build community. it is available online at www.CivilizeItMichigan.com.
