Dear School Families,
Clare Peterson, St. Mary's Parishioner and Senior at Spring Lake High School, presented Project Hand-in-Hand to our students and staff at our Monday morning assembly. Clare emphasized that there is an increased number of students in our immediate area that are homeless or low income (per Mr. Gilchrist, Principal of Spring Lake High School). Project-Hand-in-Hand provides free hygiene bags throughout the school year to low-income students in our community. They have already made and started to distribute 100 bags at Spring Lake High School. Clare's goal is to expand this project to other Spring Lake area schools, and incorporate the community in their effort to support local youth who need help.
In support of Project Hand-in-Hand, St. Mary's is adding Hand-in-Hand Day to our November 20th school-wide Love One Another Color Day. We ask that each student bring in a full-sized donation from the hygiene items listed below on or before November 20th. Our collection, along with contributions from Chris Iwan/Faith Formation students will be bagged and made available to support Project Hand-in-Hand.
Together we can make a difference. Thank you for your support!
All donations need to be new and full sized in order to last a month.
Dear School Families,
It was nice to see many of our families join us for the All Saints' Day Mass and Parade this week. I would like to thank everyone for their donations for our St. Mary's Food Pantry. This annual service project teaches our students about giving while helping out many families in need at Thanksgiving.
I would like to emphasize to our St. Mary's School families that the window for 2019-2020 Scholarships has been open for two weeks. The deadline to be eligible for the first round of scholarships from the Diocese of Grand Rapids is December 1, 2018. You are more likely to receive a scholarship from the Diocese the earlier you get your financial information on Smart Aid. Please note, families will not be eligible to receive any St. Mary's Parish Scholarship Funds until the Smart Aid Application has a "Verified" status.

"Inspired by Saint Mary and rooted in our Catholic faith, St. Mary's School fosters spiritual development, academic excellence, responsibility to self, and service to others in order that the Gospel of Christ may be known in the world."
Today at Mass we celebrated All Souls' Day - A holy day set aside for honoring and praying for the faithful departed. We also presented our Thanksgiving Food Drive collection. The food will fill food baskets distributed by our Food Pantry to help families throughout the Tri-Cities area. Our 6th Grade Science class helped sort all the donations after Mass this morning.
November 1st was a beautiful day for our annual St. Mary's All Saints' Day Parade of Saints - A holy day dedicated to the Saints of the Church in heaven
