Dear School Families,
Clare Peterson, St. Mary's Parishioner and Senior at Spring Lake High School, presented Project Hand-in-Hand to our students and staff at our Monday morning assembly. Clare emphasized that there is an increased number of students in our immediate area that are homeless or low income (per Mr. Gilchrist, Principal of Spring Lake High School). Project-Hand-in-Hand provides free hygiene bags throughout the school year to low-income students in our community. They have already made and started to distribute 100 bags at Spring Lake High School. Clare's goal is to expand this project to other Spring Lake area schools, and incorporate the community in their effort to support local youth who need help. In support of Project Hand-in-Hand, St. Mary's is adding Hand-in-Hand Day to our November 20th school-wide Love One Another Color Day. We ask that each student bring in a full-sized donation from the hygiene items listed below on or before November 20th. Our collection, along with contributions from Chris Iwan/Faith Formation students will be bagged and made available to support Project Hand-in-Hand. Together we can make a difference. Thank you for your support! All donations need to be new and full sized in order to last a month.
